Tight schedules, packed timetables, busy lifestyle. This is how most of us live, with little time to cook meals that need laborious preparation. “One-dish meals” is the saviour for stressed-out souls!

A one-dish meal (ODM) is a main meal, not a snack, which satisfies hunger and meets our nutritional requirements. It is balanced, complete with carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins and minerals. And very importantly, ODMs must be easy and quick to prepare. Let’s look at some highly recommended ODMs.

Loving noodles:   What can be easier and tastier than your favourite variant of MAGGI® Mee, madeover with complementary ingredients? Open a can of sardines, shred some cucumber, onions and chillies. Add these to your bowl of Asam Laksa MAGGI® Mee and you have a delicious cum nutritious ODM! Or fry a plate of scrumptious bihun with a generous helping of bean sprouts and prawns using MAGGI® Bihun Goreng paste.

Rice is nice:   Fried rice could be the oldest ODM around and the variations are plenty as many ingredients like eggs, meats, chicken, seafood and vegetables can be added. Let MAGGI® help you dish up appetizing fried rice with its Yang Chow or Sambal Belacan fried rice mixes.

ODMs can also be plain rice served with a complete dish. For example, steaming rice with Chilli Prawns. Just add cucumber for more fibre. Check out the many MAGGI® Mixes for dishes to accompany white rice. These mixes guarantee great taste and convenience every time.
Rice also goes beautifully with soups. And MAGGI® soup stock helps you save time. There’s Spicy Oxtail / Chicken Soup and Tom Yam Soup. You can boil the soup overnight in a crock pot, which requires little attention.

Lastly, rice porridge for those who love something hot and runny. MAGGI® Rice Porridge takes only minutes to cook and you can relish mouth-watering choices, from vegetarian to abalone.

Bread galore:   The simplest ODM is sandwich, with countless possibilities to put  in between the slices. For a wholesome sandwich, add some protein like eggs or tuna; tomato and lettuce for vitamins and a squirt of sauce or mayonnaise to flavour up. Prefer something hot? Try toasted buns with MAGGI’s Cream of Chicken Soup, garnished with fragrant parsley.

Enjoy the novelty of ODMs and have time left over to relax!
