There’s nothing more satisfying than watching your children savour their much-loved dishes. One of the most popular dishes with children is fried chicken but it has bad reputation for being unhealthy. Is it possible to enjoy fried chicken in a healthier way? Definitely!
Here are some tips on how to prepare a healthier version of fried chicken.
- Remove the skin
You can remove the skin and not compromise on the taste. Just coat your chicken with flour and spices to make it crispier, tastier and healthier. - Prepare a great marinate
Marinate your chicken in ingredients like soy sauce, garlic or chilli powder for just 30 minutes or for a couple of hours (according to the recipe) to give it more flavour. - Check the temperature
Make sure the temperature of the oil is right; otherwise, the chicken is likely to soak up excess oil and turn out very greasy after it’s fried. A digital thermometer is a great investment for the kitchen. - Use good oil
The higher the smoke point of the oil, the better it is for frying chicken. Neutral-tasting oil such as canola, vegetable or peanut oil are the best choices.
