Good to Know

Due to its high water content, spinach reduces in size by about a quarter when cooked. Be generous with your portions when cooking spinach.


4 packets MAGGI® Letup® Goreng Kari Berasap
250 g spinach, blanched
1 litre water
2 tablespoons cooking oil
For the chilli 
sambal mix (optional):
30 g dried whole chillies, soaked in hot water to soften
40 g dried shrimps, soaked to soften
80 g shallots, peeled and sliced
30 g garlic
3 g belacan
1 teaspoon MAGGI® CukupRasa™
150 ml cooking oil
For the topping 
(mix in a bowl and leave 
it to marinate in the 
refrigerator for at least 1 hour):
300 g minced chicken
6 dried Shiitake mushrooms, washed and soaked to soften, diced (retain 1 cup of the water it was soaking in for later use)
3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 tablespoon MAGGI® Oyster Sauce
2 teaspoons dark soy sauce
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1 teaspoon MAGGI® CukupRasa™
2 teaspoons corn starch
For the additional 
toppings/garnishing (optional):
4 eggs, poached
½ cup anchovies (ikan bilis), deep fried
2-3 tablespoons fried shallots


  1. Firstly, place all the ingredients for the chilli sambal mix in a food processor or grinder (except cooking oil). Blend until it turns into a smooth paste.

  2. Next, heat the cooking oil in a wok or saucepan. Sauté the blended paste for 10-15 minutes or until the mixture is dry.
  3. When the sambal mix is ready, dish out and let it cool completely. Store in a glass jar.
  4. Afterwards, heat 2 tablespoons cooking oil in a wok/pan. When the oil is hot, stir fry the minced chicken mixture on high heat until the meat is almost cooked.
  5. Then, gently pour in the water that was used to soak the mushrooms earlier and let it simmer on medium heat until the gravy has been reduced and thickened. Dish out the chicken and leave it aside.

  6. Next, boil 1 litre water and blanch the MAGGI® Letup® Goreng Kari Berasap noodles for 3 minutes or until it’s just cooked. Drain the noodles.

  7. Toss the seasonings from the noodle packets and mix evenly.

  8. Finally, divide the noodles into 8 individual bowls or deep plates, top with chilli sambal mix, minced chicken and mushroom and the other toppings if preferred. Serve with extra chilli sambal mix for an extra kick. Enjoy!
